Through The Vast of Night, Patterson takes a simple premise and molds it into a stylish and startling debut that warrants repeat viewing ... it transcends the familiarity of genre tropes to create a tale humming with distinct energy. I was always interested in what was happening but I can see many other viewers failing to click with the material and its narrative restraints.
